A question we’re hearing more and more often these days:
“Should we switch from SAP Business ByDesign to a new ERP system?”
The honest answer:
Not every company needs to switch right now.
Many customers are working successfully with SAP Business ByDesign. Processes are running smoothly, employees are familiar with the system, and day-to-day requirements are being reliably met.
Nevertheless, we’ve noticed that the discussion has shifted.
A few years ago, the main focus was on mapping processes digitally and in an audit-compliant manner.
Today, the focus is on other topics:
- AI capabilities and SAP Joule
- Greater alignment with SAP’s innovation strategy
- Continuous development of the cloud ERP
- Standardization across organizational boundaries
- Expanded finance and group-wide requirements
- Expanded requirements for logistics and production
As a result, the question is less whether SAP Business ByDesign still works today.
Rather:
Does the product still align with the company we want to be in five years?
From our perspective, that is precisely the crucial point.
The implementation of a new ERP system should not be merely a software project. It should be part of the corporate strategy. Those who view the transition solely from a technical perspective often fall short.
Those who, on the other hand, consider their future requirements usually make better decisions.
